The Card Room

The Card Room

An intimate room for considered play, where the rituals of the table meet the calm of the lake.

An Evening Ritual

After Dinner, the Table Awaits

As the dining room winds down, a quieter ritual begins. The card room offers a space to continue the evening with focus and conversation, where the pace slows and the play is considered.

Guests often transition from dinner to the card room for a late session, carrying the same ease and attention that marked the meal. The room is designed for small groups and private play, never for crowds or hurried hands. Cocktails and light fare are available from the bar, so the evening can settle into a comfortable rhythm without interruption.

The Room Itself

Warm Light, Dark Wood, Still Water

The card room is a study in restraint: dark cedar panelling, a single long table, and windows that frame the lake at night. Light comes from low copper sconces, casting a warm glow over the felt and the players' hands.

The table is custom-made from local walnut, its surface worn smooth by careful use. Seating is limited to eight players, keeping the game intimate and deliberate. The room is soundproofed to preserve quiet concentration, so the only sounds are the soft turn of cards and the occasional note of conversation.

The Games

A Focus on Poker

The card room hosts a single table dedicated to poker, played in its classic forms. The emphasis is on skill, patience, and the social pleasure of a well-played hand.

Texas Hold'em

The primary game of the room, played with a calm, methodical pace and a focus on reading the table.

Omaha

Offered on occasional evenings for players who enjoy a more layered hand and a slightly different rhythm.

Seven-Card Stud

A classic variation available by request, suited to guests who appreciate the older forms of the game.

Stakes are moderate and agreed upon in advance, with the house setting a clear and comfortable tone for every session.

Etiquette and Dress

Considered Conduct

The card room is a place for quiet focus. We ask that guests arrive on time, keep conversation low, and treat the game and fellow players with respect.

  • Smart casual attire is required; no sportswear or beachwear.
  • Phones should be silenced and used only outside the room.
  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted indoors.
  • Please wait for a natural break before leaving the table.

Reserving a Seat

By Invitation or Reservation

Seats at the table are limited and often reserved in advance. We welcome inquiries from guests staying at the estate or dining with us, and we can arrange private games for small groups.

Private games can be arranged for four to eight players, with a minimum spend applying to some private bookings. The concierge will be glad to discuss availability and the character of the evening you have in mind.
