Lakeside Arrival

A Lakeside Estate

Cedarview House sits at the edge of Okanagan Lake, where the water meets a contemporary estate designed for slow dining and quiet conversation. The approach is deliberately unhurried: stone paths, cedar posts, and a long view across the water prepare you for a meal that unfolds over hours rather than minutes.

The Estate in Brief

A Setting for the Senses

Cedarview House is not a restaurant with a view; it is a place where the view, the architecture, and the food are inseparable. The estate was designed to slow the pace of a meal and let the landscape become part of the table.

Every room, every terrace, and every path between them is arranged to keep your attention close to the water and the changing light. The result is a dining experience that feels less like a reservation and more like an afternoon or evening spent inside the landscape itself.

Architecture and Materials

Glass, Cedar, and Stone

The house is built from pale stone, warm cedar, and expanses of glass that frame the lake. The materials are chosen to age gracefully and to keep the interior connected to the landscape. Pale stone surfaces reflect soft daylight, while cedar beams and panels add a steady, natural warmth. The glass walls do the most important work: they blur the line between inside and outside, so the lake feels present even when you are seated deep within the house.

The design avoids rustic clichés. Instead, it uses clean lines and generous proportions to create a sense of calm. Ceiling heights are deliberately tall, and the rooms open into one another without sharp transitions. The result is a space that feels both modern and rooted in the Okanagan landscape, as if the building grew quietly out of the slope rather than being placed upon it.

The Dining Room

A Room with a View

The main dining room faces the lake, with floor-to-ceiling glass that brings the water and sky into the room. Tables are spaced generously to allow private conversation, and the room is arranged so that no seat feels crowded or overlooked. During the day, soft daylight moves across pale stone floors and dark wood tables, changing the character of the room hour by hour.

As the light fades, the room shifts to a warmer tone. Low lighting and candles take over, and the lake becomes a dark mirror beyond the glass. The focus turns inward to the table, the food, and the company. It is a quiet transformation, but it is one of the most memorable parts of an evening at Cedarview House.

The Lakeside Terrace

Dining at the Water's Edge

The terrace extends from the dining room toward the lake, with stone paving and cedar pergolas that offer shade and structure. In warm months, it becomes the heart of the estate, offering open-air dining with the sound of water close by. Tables are placed to capture the view without exposing guests to the full afternoon sun, and the pergolas create a rhythm of light and shadow across the stone.

In cooler weather, the terrace is partially enclosed with glass screens, allowing guests to enjoy the view without the chill. The space adapts to the Okanagan seasons, moving easily between open-air dining and a sheltered lakeside room. This flexibility keeps the terrace in use for much of the year, not only at the height of summer.

The Card Room

A Quiet Room for Cards

A short walk from the dining room, the card room offers a refined setting for live poker. It is designed with the same materials as the rest of the estate: dark wood, muted copper accents, and soft lighting. The room is intentionally separate from the main dining areas, so the rhythm of a meal is never interrupted by the card tables.

Live poker at Cedarview House is available to guests 18 and older.

The Estate and the Kitchen

From the Land and Lake

The kitchen draws from the Okanagan's farms and waters, and the estate's own herb garden supplies fresh aromatics throughout the growing season. The menu changes with the seasons, reflecting what the landscape offers at any given moment. This is not a kitchen that imposes a fixed idea on the region; it listens to the land and responds with dishes that feel immediate and specific.

Dining at Cedarview House is not just about the food; it is about the complete experience of place. The estate's calm and beauty are meant to be tasted as much as seen. A meal here connects the plate to the garden, the lake, and the architecture around you, so that the setting becomes part of the flavour.
